Is Your Company Ready for Changes In the Equal Pay Law

On January 11, Catherine L. Fisk wrote in the National Law Journal, about an amendment to California law that targets pay inequity. In the article, she discusses how California is poised to become the model for how courts may interpret the federal Equal Pay Act and other states pay-equity laws. The new law amends the California Labor Code, reinforcing the existing state prohibitions on pay discrimination and may provide guidance to HR departments and companies' general counsel, as well as assist plaintiffs’ lawyers address the issues related to pay inequity.
